'Make the change Today...'

Q.   What is hypnosis?

A.   Hypnosis is a defocused mental state.

Q.   Why would I use hypnosis as an intervention?

A.   Hypnosis allows us to access the subconscious mind which stores all our memories and emotions. With the use of critical, tailored suggestions, hypnosis can allow us to ameliorate past negative beliefs, create a more positive outlook and build on seld esteem and self worth. Hypnosis works quickly and efficiently. It works today - it is not a long drawn out therapy. The sessions are structured so that most individuals will only require 2-4 sessions. It has practical strategies which you are taught to use at home. These tools help you to manage your anxiety and relieve stress and take back control.

Q.    Will I be asleep during hypnosis?

A.    No the state of hypnosis is one of relaxation at a level similar to that state before you fall asleep or on waking in the morning, not asleep but not quite fully awake.

Q.    Does the Hypnotherapist take control of my mind during the session?

A.   No, the therapist acts like a navigator, directing your journey, you always remain the driver. No-one can "Control" your mind, in fact, quite the opposite is true, one of the central tenets of hypnosis is that you gain greater control.

Q.   Will I be able to remember what has happened during the session?

A.   You are fully aware of what is being said during the session and you will be able to hear what is going on around you. The therapist will also discuss everything with you before the session and brief you about any areas which you need to practice at home.

Q.   If I wanted more sessions than prescribed would this be possible?

A.   Yes, we set limits to help you but we are aware that individuals may choose more sessions, if they find it beneficial
